     Angela Pagounidis began dancing at the age of four in her hometown Astoria, NY. Angela trained in the disciplines of ballet, tap and jazz. Angela comes from a Greek background, and has danced for  multiple Greek dance associations. Angela's love for performing and the creative process steered her to choreograph and perform in three Long Island City High School plays during the years of 2006 to 2009.  Dance allowed her to feel a sense of identity and purpose at school. 

     

 

 

 

      Angela achieved her Bachelors of Science in Physical Education at Queens College. She secured a spot on the Queens College Dance Team her freshman year, and was committed to the team till her graduation day in May of 2014. The dance team trained in the styles of ballet, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical and pom. Angela competed with the Queens College Dance Team at the Universal Dance Association National Championships at the ESPN World of Sports in Disney World, and performed and cheered at all home basketball games. Angela was also a dancer for the Gotham City Cheerleaders from 2012 to 2014.

     Angela performed in both the Student Choreography and Faculty Showcase with the Dance Department at Queens College. The first modern dance class Angela took was with Edisa Weeks, head of the dance department at Queens College. She was a truly inspirational figure in Angela's life. Through an opportunity provided by the dance department at Queens College, Angela recieved scholarship to participate in Valerie Green's Dance Entropy Summer Dance Intensive at Green Space in Long Island City. 

 

     Angela began her professional teaching journey with the New York City Department of Education as a Physical Education/Dance teacher at I.S. 218 Salome Urena in Washington Heights. She taught in this school for two years. Angela currently teaches Dance/Physical Education at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music, Art & Performing Arts. She is a choreographer for a program she created at LaGuardia High School called the “La! Squad”. Angela is  currently a scholar in the Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program at Hunter College. Angela anticipates graduating with a Masters of Arts in Dance Education in the Spring of 2017. A long term goal Angela has is to bring dance education to Greece. She would like to create a dance school and pre-professional youth company as she continues to devote herself to the teaching of tomorrow’s leaders. Angela would also like to choreograph and perform in iconic music videos.
